The History of Mannville Fire Department<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Over the past 75 years the Mannville Fire Department has proudly protected life and property within the Village of Mannville. This could only have been accomplished with the support of council and the members of the community. The dedication of volunteers has proved successful year after year as the need for fire protection has grown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department stepped up to the challenge of fire protection for the surrounding rural areas, thus creating what would be one of the last three original rural cooperative fire protection programs left in Alberta. This could not have been done without the support of volunteers within the community giving their time and effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mannville Fire Dept. has been presented with yet another challenge. Increasing traffic on Highways 16 and 881 and increasing occurrences of farm accidents left the Department with no choice but to involve themselves in Rescue operations. As each volunteer (12 in all) responds to all and every emergency they are available for, it becomes increasingly difficult to find new volunteers to aid in supporting the communities needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Village of Mannville & County of Minburn No. 27 Approve 10-Year Joint Fire and Emergency Services Agreement. <\/p>\n\n\n

Effective January 1, 2022, the Village of Mannville and the County of Minburn No. 27 have come to terms on a Fire and Emergency Services Agreement and will be carried through until December 31, 2031. This 10-year agreement with the County of Minburn No. 27 will continue to provide fire and emergency services to Village and County residents and will be include a joint fire safety code management plan with the County of Minburn No. 27 as the managing partners.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

How can I apply? <\/summary>\n

MINIMUM FIREFIGHTER QUALIFICATIONS
You must be:
– At least 18 years of age on the date of your application.
– Eligible for employment in Canada – you must be a Canadian Citizen, a holder of a Permanent Resident Card, a Landed Immigrant or otherwise legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., holder of a work visa).
– A valid Provincial driver’s license with no current suspensions or driving prohibitions. Desirable Training and Experience
– NFPA 1001 certification or completion of other fire service related courses (Previous firefighting experience either as a Career, Paid- on-Call or Volunteer)
– Training or experience at the technical, trades or equivalent level Living Boundary<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, the Fire Department will provide all necessary firefighting and first aid training.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is this a paid position? <\/summary>\n

Yes, Volunteer Firefighters are paid for emergency responses and attendance at training sessions. As per government legislation, the first $1,000.00 of income is tax-free.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How much time is involved for training and\/or attending an Emergency Call?<\/summary>\n

On a typical year, the Minburn County Fire Department responds to approximately 200 calls:
22% – Fires (wildlands & Structures)
20% – Motor Vehicle Collisions
52% – Medical Assists
6% – False Alarms

As for training, paid on call firefighters are trained and certified (if necessary) at the County of Minburn’s expense to
NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level 1. This includes training and certification to NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Operations.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Do you offer additional training opportunities?<\/summary>\n

Yes. The Minburn County Fire Department offers its members additional training including, but is
not limited to:
– Airbrake Endorsement
– First Aid with CRP HCP endorsement
– NFPA 1002 – Fire Apparatus Driver\/Operator
– NFPA 1021-Fire Officer I
– NFPA 1041 – Fire Service Instructor I
– Incident Command System 100 & 200
